Village Ambolgad, Tal Rajapur, Dist. Ratnagiri
Awarded with National HUDCO Award in 2016, the Masterplan for “Second Home Community” proposes traditional settlement patterns which are typically centered on a large neighbourhood centre as an alternative to contemporary methods of standalone buildings seen in today’s real estate developments. The site is conceived as a 38-acre “second home development” on the outskirts of Wada in Thane and is located south of an existing truck road which will become a major regional thoroughfare as a part of a larger regional plan. The site is divided into the Neighbourhood Centre, the Senior Housing and the Residential Neighbourhood which accommodates Apartments, Row houses and Villas. The neighbourhood areas include a variety of activities and building types including parks and the stormwater swales.
The Neighbourhood Centre has a U-shaped central green lined with 6 storey buildings where the ground floor is a commercial space that will serve both the neighbourhood as well as the region around.
